These seem to me like gestures, gestures with no likelihood of changing the fundamental beliefs that are the source of the pain for LGBTQ people — the characterization of their sexuality as “instrinsically disordered,” the new euphemism for perverse, vile, etc. That Fr. Martin’s book is regarded as a sign of hope for the full acceptance of LGBTQ people is such a sad sign.
