Such an important read. Such power exerted below the radar. And INC has influence beyond those who identify with it per se (largely through the popularity of the worship music, which is everywhere, as you point out) … I didn’t even really know about INC until you put me on to it. Our old Denomination, Vineyard USA had connections with C. Peter Wagner at it’s inception, differentiated on some issues, but with the change in national leadership in 2012 took a turn toward pop-level charismatic culture shaped by INC and fundamentalism. And through the alliance between conservative catholics and Evangelicals, there are bridges between these two powerful communities. (Many of the conservative catholics are also catholic charismatics) … Catholics who view Pope Francis as a dangerous “liberalizer” (though he re-affirms conservative doctrines and mainly does gestures toward more progressive leaning Catholics.) It’s all quite a network of powerful influences now and Trump has tapped into it with a vengeance.
