James, I checked out some of the evangelicals who signed that catholic-evangelical alliance statement, and these are not “hard core fundamentalists” — but very much middle of the road, mainstream evangelicals. Rick Warren, for example, hosted a debate with Barak Obama and John McCain, and, at one time, supported climate science as legitimate. This is a sign that evangelicalism is organizing even more around homophobia.
