I wanna keep an eye on Bethany over this. I too am suspicious--the statement didn't specify LGBTQ, so we are left with the statements of leaders, and I just don't know what those statements were or what status they hold within the organization? Do they have a public policy statement that reverses their previous practice and to which they can be accountable? How would the public even know? Will Bethany be able to have an public facing/non specific statement butressed by informal comments from leaders that it includes LGBTQ as a kind dodge? Will they have an internal practice that actually changes the previous exclusionary policy? Evangelical organizations have such a track record of obfuscation and I know you're tuned into that. I also want to see how this plays out with Bethany's financial supporters. Have they withstood evangelical donor blow-back yet, which can be severe. So I'm in that glimmer of ("is it false") hope mode.
