@Dean Herbert, yes I think this is common now in many non-denominational churches that seek to be "culturally relevant"--keep 'em guessing on policies affecting LGBTQ+ people. As a safe rule of thumb any church with ties to evangelicalism (and thus drawing donors who are evangelical) will enforce exclusionary policies, if quietly as in your situation.
